Gas blending is a critical part of diving operations, but a Blending Technician does not need to be a diver. What they do need is a thorough understanding of gas physics, blending technology, oxygen handling and the standards required to produce reliable breathing gases.

Bill Nadeau has been involved in the development and delivery of Nitrox and mixed-gas programs in Canada since the early days of technical diving. In 1995, IANTD Canada began a concerted effort to make Nitrox and mixed gases more accessible to divers. Bill was part of the team that helped advance continuous-flow blending technology and gas analysis, and later co-authored the IANTD Gas Blending Manual with NOAA pioneer Dick Rutkowski.

Since then, Bill has conducted hundreds of gas blending programs, combining the underlying science with practical, hands-on experience. His approach is straightforward: understand the science, master the technology and respect the consequences.
